Volunteer Program
Interested in making a difference in your community? One of the best places to volunteer is at the Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center located at 1818 N. Westmoreland Road. Whether you walk our adoptable dogs, answer phones at the shelter, assist with off-site adoption events or stuff mailers, you can make a difference in the lives of the animals.
Volunteer opportunities are available Monday through Friday from
10am – 4pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 3:30pm. We have a wide variety of volunteer activities to match your interests and skills.
What Can I Do As a Volunteer?
- Shelter Care/Adoptions: provide loving care for animals housed in the shelter by socializing shy animals, walking dogs, cleaning cages and toys, and providing assistance in the laundry room
- Offsite Adoptions: assist with unloading animals, setting up crates, walking animals, and displaying animals for adoption
- Public Outreach: assist at schools and other events/locations educating the public on responsible pet ownership.
Individuals interested in becoming a volunteer at the shelter should complete the application below. All volunteers are required to be at least 18 years of age or older and able to pass a background check.
