About Us...
Dallas Animal Services is responsible for the care and control of the City’s pet population by enforcing Chapter 7 “Animals” of the Dallas City Code and the Texas Rabies Control Act.
We are committed to providing care and control of the animals that are brought into our facility by:
- Adoption Center that adopted 1,968 dogs and cats in FY07-08
- Providing veterinary care
- Microchipping
- Education/Outreach (on responsible pet ownership)
- Pet registrations
Through these efforts, DAS enhances the health and livability of Dallas residents and pets and the quality of their neighborhoods by actively deploying resources into the community and educating the public on responsible pet ownership.
Animal Shelter Commission
The Animal Shelter Commission is composed of fifteen (15) members appointed by the Dallas City Council for two-year terms. Meetings are generally held quarterly on the fourth Thursday of the month
at 1:30 p.m., at Dallas City Hall, located at 1500 Marilla, Dallas, Texas, 75201, Room 6ES. Meetings usually last approximately two to three hours.
